Field Hockey Player Spotlights: Taylor Shronk and Maiyah Brown

During each week of the 2015 Temple field hockey season, two student-athletes will be featured for "Player Spotlights" on OwlSports.com. The fifth player spotlights of the year will help Owl fans get to know senior Taylor Shronk and sophomore Maiyah Brown.

Why did you start playing field hockey? My mom's cousin co-ran a field hockey and lacrosse camp and would bring me along. I really enjoyed it and would go back every year! Do you have siblings? Brother, Kyle (10) and sister, Morgan (15). If you could be in any profession after college, what would it be? Teaching high school math and coaching field hockey. If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Pasta, with some type of chicken. Favorite candy? Reese's peanut butter cups. What is your proudest accomplishment? Playing Division I field hockey while excelling in course work. If you were an animal, what animal would you be? Giraffe. What's one word to describe yourself? Caring. What is your favorite part about being a member of Temple field hockey? Being a part of a family who looks after one another and just having a great time together. What is your biggest fear? Snakes. Do you have any pets? Names? I have a rabbit named Spike. Do you have any superstitions before games? Braids in my hair. What is playing on your iPod today? Country music.	Do you have siblings? One younger sister, Seven (yes, her name is Seven), and an older sister, Ashlee. If you could have any super power, what would it be? To fly. If you could change one thing about the world today, what would it be? Get rid of poverty. What is your favorite place to eat on campus? Potbelly. If you won a million dollars, what's the first thing you would buy? The newest Chevy Corvette. Favorite exercise in the weight room? Deadlift. Favorite sport to watch on TV (other than field hockey)? Basketball. What TV shows are you hooked on? Scandal. What is your favorite part about being a member of Temple field hockey? Playing the sport I love with great people. What is something your mom or dad taught you? They taught me how to cook. Do you have any pets? Names? I have a dog named Bullit. What's one word to describe yourself? Outgoing.
