PHILADELPHIA - After defeating a ranked Cincinnati team on the road in its American Athletic Conference opener on Dec. 29, Temple men's basketball will look to complete the season sweep of the Bearcats when the Owls host them on Saturday, Jan. 16 at noon (ESPNU / 1210 AM WPHT).Â
Saturday is Parent-Child Layup Day. Following the game, kids 14 and under who are accompanied by an adult can come on to the court to score a basket.
Headlines
• Temple is coming off a tough, 67-65 loss at Memphis in the final seconds. The Owls tied the game on a Josh Brown layup with two seconds left, but a foul on the next possession sent the Tigers to the free throw line.
• The Owls have won four of their last six games, including a pair of road games against Top 25 teams (#22/23 Cincinnati and #23/24 UConn). This season marks the first since 1998 that the Owls have beaten two Top 25 opponents on the road.
• Senior Jaylen Bond recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 14 points and a season-high 14 rebounds at Memphis, while Brown led the Owls with a season-high 15 points along with seven assists.
• Senior Quenton DeCosey led Temple with 24 points in the ECU win, which saw the Owls make a 21-4 run in the second half. Temple made a season-best 13 three-pointers, with DeCosey and senior Devin Coleman hitting five apiece.
• For his efforts in leading the Owls to their recent two wins, DeCosey was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Jan. 11. He is the first Temple player to earn the honor so far in 2015-16.
• The Owls' 55-53 win at #23/24 UConn on Jan. 5 was the 200th win for head coach Fran Dunphy in his 10 seasons at Temple. He is now one of just five Division I coaches with 200 or more wins at two different schools, while also taking each school to six or more NCAA Tournaments.
• With 511 wins, Dunphy is just six wins away from surpassing former Owl coach John Chaney and becoming the all-time winningest coach in Philadelphia Big 5 history.
• On Dec. 29 the Owls won 77-70 at #22/23 Cincinnati in their American Athletic Conference opener. The wins at Cincinnati and UConn mark the program's ninth season in a row with at least one victory over a Top 25 team.
• Four players reached double figures in scoring in both the UConn and Cincinnati wins, led by DeCosey with 19 points against the Bearcats and 15 points against the Huskies.
• Temple hit a season-high 30 free throws (30-of-38, 78.9 percent) in its win against Delaware State on Dec. 19, with DeCosey making 12-of-15 and Brown hitting a perfect 8-of-8. DeCosey recorded his third career double-double in the victory, adding a career-high 12 rebounds to a team-best 20 points.
• As a team, the Owls are ranked second in the nation in fewest turnovers per game at 9.3. They have recorded single digit turnovers in nine of 15 games, tallying as few as five (vs. Delaware on 11/29).
• DeCosey is Temple's leading scorer this season with 15.4 points per game, ranking in a tie for fourth in the American Athletic Conference, and has scored in double figures in 13 of 15 contests.
• Cincinnati faces Temple just two and a half weeks after losing to the Owls at home on Dec. 29. The Bearcats have since won three of four, losing only to undefeated SMU.
• Four players average between 9.6 and 12.2 ppg to lead a balanced Cincinnati attack. Senior guard Farad Cobb is currently the team leader with 12.2 points per game and a team-best 3-point field goal percentage of .472.
Temple vs. Cincinnati

• The Owls won this season's earlier meeting 77-70 at #22/23 Cincinnati, 77-70, their second straight win vs. the Bearcats.
• After an 84-53 loss at Cincinnati on Jan. 17, 2015, the Owls rebounded in a big way with a 75-59 home win against the Bearcats on Feb. 10. Temple's score ended Cincinnati's 28-game streak of holding opponents to under 70, which had been the longest active streak in NCAA Division I.
• The Bearcats had won four straight in the series prior to last year's second match-up.Â
