Field Hockey Hosts Lafayette on Sunday; Honors Four Seniors

10.29.16 | Field Hockey

PHILADELPHIA - Looking for some momentum heading into next week's BIG EAST Conference Tournament, Temple field hockey (6-11) will host Lafayette for the Owls' annual Senior Day game on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. The Leopards (8-9) are a non-conference rival of Temple's, and the Owls hold a 20-9-2 lead in the all-time series.

Temple is coming off a tough road game on Friday that saw the Owls lose 7-0 at Liberty. The Flames earned the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament with the win. Temple either needed a win at Liberty or a Providence win at Old Dominion, and the Friars earned that win 1-0 in overtime at ODU. Temple, ODU and Quinnipiac all finished in a tie for fourth place at 3-4, but the Owls defeated both ODU and Quinnipiac in the regular season to break the tie and earn the spot. Temple will play top-seeded UConn in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 4 at Howarth Field.

Lafayette is 8-9 overall but lost six in a row prior to beating Lehigh 2-1 on Friday night. Four of Lafayette's losses have come to teams ranked in the Top 20, and the Leopards defeated No. 9 Boston University 2-1 on Sept. 23. Senior Amanda Magadan leads Lafayette with seven goals and 16 total points, while freshman Lisa van der Geest and senior Ami Turner are tied for the team lead with four assists each. Senior Katelyn Arnold has been the Leopards' only goalkeeper this season, boasting a save percentage of .650.

Lafayette assistant coach Sarah Dalrymple is a 2011 Temple graduate and was an NFHCA All-Region Second Team selection for Temple field hockey as a senior goalkeeper in 2010.

Prior to Sunday's game, Temple will honor its four seniors in a ceremony on the field.
