Track & Field Posts Five Top-Ten Finishes at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – Temple women's track and field concluded two days of competition at the Raleigh Relays on Saturday afternoon. Led by the Owls' hurdlers, the team collected three new personal records and five top-10 finishes in the large pool of athletes competing.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Simone Brownlee logged a personal-best time of 12.30 seconds to place 15th overall. In the 400-meter hurdles, Crystal Jones and Maya Halprin-Adams both recorded personal-bests in the event. Jones logged a time of 1:04.48 to place 19th out of a pool of 39 total competitors. Halprin-Adams was close behind with a time of 1:07.51.
Kenya Gaston posted the highest finish for an individual running event, placing ninth in the 400-meter run with a time of 55.81 seconds.
In field events, both Bionca St. Fleur and Simone Chapman earned seventh-place finishes for their respective jumps. St. Fleur posted a 5.73-meter mark in the long jump on the first day of competition. In the triple jump. Chapman nearly matched her personal-best with a mark of 11.91 meters.
Katie Pinson once again led the distance runners in the 1500-meter race. Pinson ran a time of 4:37.20 to place 44th out of a pool of 108 runners.
The Owls placed teams in four different relay events, with the 4x1500-meter relay earning the highest placement. With a time of 19:22.73, the team of Ashton Dunkley, Maddie Bixler, Pinson, and Katie Leisher took seventh overall.
Temple's track and field team now looks to the Colonial Relays taking place next weekend in Williamsburg, Va.
