Field Hockey to Celebrate Alumnae Day vs. UC Davis on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA - Looking to rebound after a pair of losses, Temple field hockey is set to host non-conference foe UC Davis on Sunday, Oct. 8 at noon. The Owls (3-8) and the Aggies (1-10) are meeting for the first time in program history. Temple is celebrating Alumnae Day, and all Temple alums in attendance are asked to check in and will be recognized at halftime.
Scouting the Owls
> Temple comes into Sunday's game off a 4-0 loss at BIG EAST foe Old Dominion on Friday. Prior to that, the Owls were edged 3-2 at Georgetown on Sept. 29.
> The Owls' last win was a thrilling, 3-2 come-from-behind overtime victory vs. Sacred Heart on Sept. 24. Temple trailed 1-0 at halftime and 2-0 in the second half before coming back to tie in regulation. In overtime, sophomore Kathryn Edgar recorded her third assist in as many goals, feeding senior Rachael Mueller for the game-winner.
> Freshman Taylor Alba recorded both her first career goal and first career assist in the Owls' loss at Georgetown.
> Mueller leads the Owls with five goals and four assists for 14 total points. Edgar and redshirt senior Sarah Keer have scored two goals each, while Edgar and Mueller lead the team with four assists apiece.
> With nine defensive saves, the Owls rank second among all teams in NCAA Division I. Junior Nellie Doyle, redshirt junior Ashley Kucera and freshman Dani Batze lead the way with two defensive saves each, while Edgar, redshirt junior Maris Stern and sophomore Becky Gerhart have one apiece.
> Junior Chloe Johnson has been the goalkeeper of record in four of the Owls' last five games, going 2-2. She started for the first time in her career at Holy Cross and made a career-high eight saves. She made seven more vs. #1 UConn, and made three without allowing a single goal in 30 minutes of action vs. Sacred Heart.
Scouting UC Davis
> The Aggies have just one win in 11 games so far, 2-1 at Bryant on Sept. 15. Five of their losses have come against Top 25 programs, including a pair of 3-0 defeats against #5 Syracuse and #20 Harvard. On Friday, UC Davis was edged 2-1 at #21 Saint Joseph's.
> Only two players have scored more than one goal for UC Davis, sophomores Kim Van der Meulen and Lauren Gangarella with two. Both senior Madison Cohen and junior Nica Taglieri have three assists to lead the Aggies.
