Temple owns an 8-3 all-time record in the series with Jefferson. The last time the teams competed on the hardwood was Jan. 17, 1976 when the then Philadelphia Textile Rams, coached by Magee, defeated the Owls, coached by Don Casey, 70-58, at the Palestra.
Magee, who has won 1,053 games in his 50 years at the helm, owns a 3-2 record against Temple. The Naismith Hall of Fame coach also defeated the Cherry and White on Feb. 3, 1975 (69-59) and Jan. 6, 1973 (58-52). That last contest was also held at the Palestra with the Owls coached by Hall of Famer Harry Litwack. Temple's last win in the series was the last game of the 1973-74 season, a 63-53 win at the Palestra.
Temple and Jefferson tip off on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Liacouras Center. All ticket sales from this game will be donated to One America Appeal to benefit those impacted by the recent hurricanes that hit Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. Fans can purchase a reserved ticket for the event for $10; Temple and Jeffferson student tickets are free with valid student IDs.
