PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Temple field hockey took a 2-1 lead into halftime before ultimately suffering a 4-2 loss at Providence (4-3, 1-0) in the BIG EAST Conference opener for both teams. The Owls (1-5, 0-1) had opportunities with five corners and six total shots, but had a couple shots go just wide late in the contest.

Keys to the Game
> The Owls came from behind after an early Providence goal, scoring twice in a two-minutes span to take a 2-1 lead in the 18th minutes of the first half.

> Temple took six total shots, but only two were on target and the Owls scored on both.

> Junior Nellie Doyle set up Temple's first goal with a takeaway in the backfield, getting the ball to senior Rachael Mueller who eventually assisted on the goal by senior Maiyah Brown.

> The Owls' second goal came on a penalty corner, scored by sophomore Kathryn Edgar with assists from Mueller and sophomore Maddie Merton.

> Less than two minutes into the second half, the Friars got fortunate with a tip-in off a long ball from outside the circle to tie the game at 2-2.

> Providence's go-ahead goal and final goal were scored just over two minutes apart midway through the second half.

Game Notes
> With a defensive save by Edgar late in the first half and another by freshman Dani Batze, the Owls now have eight defensive saves for the season and lead all teams in NCAA Division I.

> Sophomore Maddie Lilliock made four saves for Temple.

> The goals for Edgar and Brown were the first of the season for both.

> Mueller has four assists to lead the Owls, in addition to two goals, for a team-best eight total points.
