Kathryn Edgar Earns BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Mention

9.25.17 | Field Hockey

NEW YORK - Following a 1-1 week that saw impressive performances by Temple field hockey in both games, sophomore Kathryn Edgar has been named to the BIG EAST Conference's Weekly Honor Roll. The Owls held #1 UConn scoreless for 52 minutes before losing 4-1, and rebounded two days later for a 3-2 overtime win against Sacred Heart.

Edgar had a hand in all three goals for the Owls in their come-from-behind victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday. She picked up her first assist off a corner in the 34 seconds after Sacred Heart took a 2-0 lead in the 44th minute. Then with eight minutes remaining in regulation, she found her classmate Becky Gerhart to even the score at 2-2. In overtime, Edgar sent the ball upfield to a wide open Rachael Mueller, who drove it into the lower right corner for the win.

With four assists this season, Edgar is tied for the team lead with Mueller. In addition to her assists vs. Sacred Heart, Edgar took one shot, and had one shot on goal in the Owls' game against UConn.

Next up for Temple is a 2 p.m. game at BIG EAST foe Georgetown on Friday, Sept. 29.
