Men's Cross Country Rounds Out 2018 Season Saturday at IC4A Championships

11.14.18 | Men's Cross Country

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple University men's cross country squad will round out its stellar 2018 season at the IC4A Championships this Saturday, Nov 17. The Owls look to defend their title from 2017, after bringing home the gold at IC4A's for the first time in program history and sweeping first place in both individual men's races. The meet will be held in New York, N.Y. and will feature four races: IC4A Coaches Race (8,000 meters, 10:00 a.m.), ECAC Coaches Race (5,000 meters, 10:45 a.m.), IC4A Championship Race (8,000 meters, 11:15 a.m.) and ECAC Championship Race (5,000 meters, 12:00 p.m.)

From the Coach
> "Last year, we showed up to this meet and surprised everyone with our championship performance. We no longer have the luxury of surprise, and now have a target on our backs," said head coach James Snyder.
> "Kristian has an opportunity to follow in Marc's footsteps, where he won the individual title a year ago. Both he and Zach will be in that conversation after continuously being in the front of our group all season. We also will be running a deep squad that adds Tyji Mays, Johnathan Condly and Ben Evans to our group from the region meet. For some of these guys, this will be their last cross country race in a Temple uniform. I look forward to seeing what everyone can to with the expectations of winning our second IC4A Championship."

Last Time Out
> The Owls are coming off of a record-breaking performance at the 2018 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals last Friday in State College, Pa. Tying their No. 6 ranking from the USTFCCCA and besting their seventh place finish in 2017, the Cherry and White finished sixth overall out of the 24 teams in the region.
> Sophomore Kristian Jensen conquered the 10,000-meter course in 31:34, crossing the line first for Temple to place 13th overall. After earning All-Conference honors two weeks prior at the American Athletic Conference Championships, Jensen added All-Region accolades to his impressive resume for earning a top-25 finish.
> Junior Zach Seiger continued to shine during his stand-out junior season, finishing 22nd overall with a time of 31:52 at regionals. Coming off of a program-high fifth place finish two weeks prior at the American Athletic Conference Championships, Seiger's finish at the region meet is among the highest ever for the Owls, landing a spot on the All-Region squad.
> Junior Kevin Lapsansky took the number three spot for Temple, finishing the 10,000-meter course in 32:01 to place 29th overall. After earning All-Conference honors at the AAC Championships two weeks ago, Lapsansky nearly missed All-Region tabs by just four places after a solid performance.
> Crossing next for the Owls was junior Harry Powell, who conquered the course in 32:34 for a 46th place finish. Wrapping up the top five for Temple was senior Louis Corgliano, who finished just one second behind Powell with a time of 32:35.
