Gymnastics Heads to the USAFA on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple gymnastics will hit the road this weekend for a tri-meet at the United States Air Force Academy set for Saturday, Feb. 24. Along with the Owls, Air Force will play host to New Hampshire for a 6 p.m. (MT) competition at the Academy's Cadet West Gym.

Scouting the Owls
>The Owls enter this weekend's competition ranking fifth in the North East region, averaging a 193.893. With a record of 15-3, Temple remains at the No. 1 spot in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
> On Feb. 17, Temple swept the Ken Anderson Memorial Invitational with a 194.625 to top Bridgeport, West Chester, and Ursinus. The squad totaled a 48.550 on vault where senior co-captain Sahara Gipson earned the individual title, scoring a 9.8. On the uneven bars, Temple scored a 48.450-team score. Senior Kerry Arone posted a 9.825 as the Owls' No. 1 scorer on the event to take first place.  Freshman Delaney Garin earned first place on the balance beam with a 9.8, leading the squad to a 48.700-team score. On floor, the Owls registered a 48.925 where freshman Tori Edwards notched a career-best 9.875 to take the gold.

Scouting the Falcons
> Air Force enters this weekend's competition ranked ninth in the North Central region, averaging a193.029.
> In a dual meet at the USAF Academy on Feb. 17, the Falcons fell to UC Davis 194.950-193.300. Air Force registered a season-high team of 48.975 on the floor exercise where Tyler Davis posted a career-best score of 9.9 to win the individual title.
 
Scouting the Wildcats
>In its first meeting of 2018 with the Owls, Temple topped New Hampshire 194.875-194175 at the Little Boston Invitational on Jan. 6.
> Ranked third in the North East region, the Wildcats have a 5-4 record, averaging a 194.939.  
>New Hampshire snagged four individual event titles on its way to toppling Bowling Green On Feb. 18. Nicole O' Leary emerged as the vault champion with a 9.875 to lead the Wildcats to a team score of 48.825. Next, Lauren Diggan placed first on bars with a career-high 9.925. New Hampshire tied its season-high team beam score (49.925) led by Casey Lauter's 9.925. On floor, Danielle Mulligan tied for first with a career-best 9.9.
