Gymnastics Places Second at Pittsburgh Quad Meet

Pittsburgh, Pa. – On Saturday, Temple Gymnastics posted a 193.875 at Pittsburgh's quad meet. The Owls earned the No. 2 spot only behind No. 25 NC State (194.600), ahead of Pittsburgh (193.125) and Towson (192.050). Both sophomore Jaylene Everett and freshman Tori Edwards posted career-high scores on the floor exercise and uneven bars, respectively. Overall the Owls competed 27 routines and executed each one with no falls. 

Keys to the Meet
> The Owls began Saturday's completion on floor. Everett reached a career-high 9.875 floor score, splitting the individual title with Pittsburgh's Haley Brechwald and NC State's Chelsea Knight. Edwards was the squad's No. 2 scorer, posting a 9.8 to tie for fourth. As a whole, Temple totaled a 48.875 in the event.
> Next up for Temple was the vault, where the squad scored a total 48.100. Everett and Edwards scored a pair of 9.700's for the Owls tying for third with Brechwald and NC State's Caitlyn Fillard.
> Moving on the uneven bars, the Owls tallied a 48.500. Edwards led the way with a career-best 9.800 bars score, tying for second with Pittsburgh's Lucy Brett and Towson's Tess Zientek. Freshman Monica Servidio added a 9.750 to Temple's overall score, tying for fourth with Pittsburgh's Lucy Jones. Sophomore Daisy Todd's solid performance contributed a 9.700.
> Temple closed out the afternoon on the balance beam, tallying a 48.400 score. Sophomore Whitney King was the Owls' top beam performer with a 9.750 score to tie for second overall with Catie Conrad (Pittsburgh), Drew Grantham (NC State), and Tyra McKellar (Towson). Servidio was Temple's second-highest scorer with a 9.700.
> In her first time competing all-around since starting at Temple, Servidio posted a 38.625. The freshman is the first gymnast to compete all-around for the Owls in the 2018 season.
