Gymnastics Heads Across Town on Sunday for Competition at Penn

PHILADELPHIA – On Sunday, Temple Gymnastics will remain in Philadelphia for a quad meet hosted at the Palestra by conference opponent Penn. In addition to the Quakers, Temple will also face Ursinus and the University of Bridgeport. The quad meet is set for a 2 p.m. start.

Scouting the Owls
> Temple gymnastics enters Sunday's competition ranked first in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and fifth in the North East Region by the NACGC/W.
> On Feb. 3 at Pittsburgh, the Owls posted a 193.875 to place second overall among the Panthers, NC State and Towson. Temple tallied a 48.875 on floor, where sophomore Jaylene Everette notched a career-high 9.875 score to tie for first place with Pittsburgh's Haley Brechwald and NC State's Chelsea Knight. On the uneven bars, the Owls earned a 48.500 led by freshman Tori Edwards' career-high score of 9.800. Temple totaled 48.400 and 48.100 on beam and vault, respectively. Freshman Monica Servidio was the Owls' sole all-arounder, tallying a 38.625.

Scouting the Quakers
> Currently, Penn ranks fourth in the ECAC and ninth overall the North East region.
> On Feb. 4, Penn topped ECAC opponent Cornell 192.675-192.400.  Penn grabbed two team event wins on beam and floor, while Darcy Matsuda captured the individual victory on beam with a 9.850 score.  Alex Hartke and Caroline Moore tied for second on beam with a pair of 9.825's.

Scouting the Purple Knights
> UB will head into the weekend's competition ranked seventh in the North East region.
> On Sunday at Brown, UB took first place in the tri-meet with a season-best team score of 194.350. As a team, the Purple Knights posted a 48.750 on the uneven bars, a 48.475 on the balance beam, a 48.725 in the floor exercise and a 48.400 on vault. Maya Reimers took home two individual titles tying for first on beam with teammates Gabrielle Kistner and Kelsey Campbell with scores of 9.700 and capturing first on floor with a 9.850.  The floor exercise yielded top-four finishes for Reimers, Nina Wittaker, Kistner, and Campbell.

Scouting the Bears
> At West Chester on Feb. 5, the Bears were outscored 192.250-186. 075. Despite the loss, Eleanor LaFoutnain matched her career-best 9.775 floor score to snag her second first-place finish of 2018. The floor exercise has been the best scored event for the Bears this season.
