Dani Batze Named a Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Scholar of Distinction

PHILADELPHIA - Temple field hockey's Dani Batze has been recognized as a 2017 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction for her academic efforts. Batze, a freshman, is one of 138 student-athletes representing 61 schools to earn the honor.

"I'm so proud of Dani and all the advancements she has made as a student-athlete here at Temple," said head coach Marybeth Freeman. "This acknowledgement that Dani has acquired as a freshman puts her in a wonderful position moving forward in her academic career."

The Division I Scholars of Distinction program recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year.

Batze played in all 18 contests for Temple in 2017, starting in 14 of those. She was key in the backfield with a team-high four defensive saves, averaging 0.22 defensive saves per game to tie for second in the BIG EAST Conference.
