Men's Cross Country Competes at Paul Short Invitational

9.29.18 | Men's Cross Country

Bethlehem, Pa. – A handful of runners from the Temple University men's cross country squad traveled to Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday morning to compete at Lehigh University's 45th Paul Short Run. The Owls raced in the Brown section that included 44 total teams.

About the 45th Paul Short Run
> The Paul Short Run is the largest intercollegiate cross country meet in the nation with approximately 6,000 athletes from nearly 450 colleges and high schools. It features 14 races (six college, six high school and two open).
> The races were run on the picturesque Goodman Campus Cross Country Course, which navigates through corn fields, green spaces, wooded areas and campus senior, and is known as one of the best cross country courses in the Northeast region.
> The men raced 8,000 meters across the course amongst multiple regionally recognized programs.

Quotable
> "One of the guys that really stood out today at Paul Short was freshman Quinn Serfass," said head coach James Snyder. "He did a great job running a patient race and handling a big field really well. As for this weekend, we will get back to work for training this upcoming week. We will learn from the various performances, and work towards Princeton in two weeks followed by our conference meet in roughly a month."

How it Happened
> The top finisher for the Owls was Senior Shane Ramdeo, who ran a time of 26:37.
> Following Ramdeo was freshman standout Quinn Serfass, who crossed the finish line only one second later with a time of 26:38. The competition at Paul Short was the biggest field Serfass has competed in wearing Cherry and White, and he illustrated patience and diligence throughout the 8,000 meter race to place in the number two spot for Temple.
> Also contributing to Temple's front pack and wrapping up the top three for the Owls was junior Ben Evans, who finished with a time of 26:41.

Up Next
> The squad will be back in action for their last regular-season meet of the year on Saturday, Oct. 13. The Owls will travel to Princeton, N.J. to compete at the Princeton Invitational for their final official race before the American Athletic Conference Championships in New Orleans, La.
