10.9.18 | Men's Cross Country
PHILADELPHIA – After a two week hiatus from competition, the Temple University men's cross country squad is back in action as they travel to Princeton, N.J. this Friday, Oct. 12th to race one last time before the American Athletic Conference Championships later in the month. The men are set to kick off the Princeton Invitational at 4:30 p.m. on Friday when they race an 8,000 meter course through the West Windsor Fields.
About the Princeton Invitational
> The Owls will face a plethora of competition in the field, as American, Binghamton, Buffalo, Columbia, Cornell, George Mason, George Washington, Hofstra, LaSalle, Lehigh, Maryland, Monmouth, Princeton, Quinnipiac, Rider, South Carolina, St. Joseph's, Stony Brook, Temple, Towson, UConn, UMass Lowell, UMBC, and Villanova will all be represented at the Princeton Invitational.
> The 8,000-meter course begins on the soccer fields located just over the Washington Road Bridge. It winds through soy bean fields toward Route 1, and loops back around to the soccer fields.
From the Coach
> "We are looking to rebound from a disappointing meet at Notre Dame in what will be our final tune up before the conference race," said head coach James Snyder. "This will be a great chance to see where we measure up against many of the teams we'll see at our regional meet and the conference championships. The men are coming off a really solid two week training block and I'll look forward to seeing them put together our most complete team race of the year on Friday."
Last Time Out
> Closing out September competition two weeks ago, Temple competed at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational where they raced in the Blue Division for the first time in program history against a contingent of nationally and regionally ranked opponents. After coming out on top their first two meets of the season, the Owls strayed a bit off track at Notre Dame and look to bounce back this Friday after two weeks of diligent training.
> In his debut collegiate race wearing Cherry and White, junior Harry Powell crossed the line first for the Owls in the five mile run with a time of 24:39.9, earning him a 33rd place finish overall.
> Just over two seconds behind Powell was senior Louis Corgliano, who finished his first ever five mile as an Owl with a time of 24:42.2 for a 36th place finish.
> Powell and Corgliano highlighted the race in Notre Dame, working well together over the latter stages to push one another through the course.
