Gymnastics to Host Ithaca, Penn and Ursinus in Pink Meet

PHILADELPHIA— Temple women's gymnastics will host Ithaca, Penn and Ursinus for its home opener Pink Meet on Sunday, Jan. 27. The Owls will take on the Bombers, Quakers and Bears at 3 p.m. in McGonigle Hall.

The Owls
>The Owls are led by head coach Josh Nilson, who is in his first season at the helm of the Cherry and White.
> Last time out, Temple faced UNH, Bridgeport and Pitt in a quad meet matchup on Friday, Jan. 18. The Owls scored a 191.950, taking fourth place behind UNH (194.925), Pitt (193.725) and Bridgeport (193.575). Sophomore Monica Servidio and freshman Ariana Castrence went one-two in the all-around competition, with Servidio taking the title and Castrence placing second.
> The Owls are captained by senior India Anderson, junior Daisy Todd and sophomore Delaney Garin. Last week, Anderson paced the team on floor, scoring a team-high 9.8 and Todd tied for the team-high score on bars with a 9.725.
> Temple had its strongest showing on vault at the UNH quad meet. The Owls posted a 48.575 in the event. Junior Jazmyn Estrella and Servidio had strong performances, both scoring a 9.725. Castrence and junior Jaylene Everett tied for the team-high score, each earning a 9.750.
> The squad features two all-around competitors in Servidio and Castrence. They have landed spots on the podium in all-around in all three of the Owls competitions this season. Castrence and Servidio put on their best performances so far this year at the Little Boston Invite. Castrence took the title, scoring a career-best 39.15. Her mark was 0.05 shy of the program's all-around record of 39.2 that was set in 2012. Servidio tallied a career-best 39.050, surpassing her previous record of 38.975. Her score was good for second place.
Scouting Ithaca
> Ithaca's Jan. 19 meet against Springfield College was postponed. The Bombers last competed in their season opener on Jan. 13, where they defeated Rhode Island College, 187.000-176.275. The Bombers swept all events.
> The team posted a 47.275 on vault, 45.8 on bars, 45.9 on beam and 48.025 on floor.
> The Owls have dominated the series against the Bombers, leading 8-0. The squads last met in 2018 in a quad meet hosted by Temple. The Owls took the victory over Ithaca, 193.225-188.075.
Scouting Penn
> Last time out, Penn traveled to Yale on Jan. 19 and fell to the Bulldogs, 193.775-192.350.
> The squad scored a 48.1 on vault, 48.2 on bars, 47.675 on beam and 48.375 on floor.
> The ECAC foes first met in 1976 and Temple leads the all-time series, 54-43. In their most recent meeting at the 2018 ECAC Championships, the Quakers edged the Owls, 193.200-192.675.
Scouting Ursinus
> Ursinus competed in its second meet of the season at West Chester on Jan. 20. The Bears fell to the Golden Rams, 188.875-183.125.
> The team posted a 46.375 on vault, 43.175 on bars, 46.850 on beam and 46.825 on floor.
> The Owls lead the series against the Bears, 53-3. The teams last met in 2018 at the Ken Anderson Invite. Temple defeated Ursinus, 194.625-192.650.
