Volleyball Opens Second Half of Conference Play Home this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA -- With eight matches down in American Athletic Conference play, the Temple volleyball team opens the second half of the league slate at home this weekend. The Owls will host Tulsa on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and then Wichita State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.Â
PROMOTIONS
> Friday night is Hawaiian night, sponsored by the Matautia family. The night features Hawaiian music, prizes, and a bucket hat giveaway for the first 100 students. Temple will also raffle off a pair of Beats headphones to one lucky student.
> Sunday, the Owls "Dig for a Cure," to help the Side-Out Foundation. Funds raised for Side-Out go toward a clinical trial specifically for patients with stage 4 breast cancer, the most advanced form of the disease and the least funded area of research. Fans can donate online at: owlsports.com/digpink.
> Sunday will also feature a post-match clinic for kids of all ages, as well as an autograph session with the team.

> Tulsa enters the weekend with a 12-9 overall record including a 5-3 mark in The American.
> The Hurricane are coming off a weekend split in which they swept USF, 3-0, but fell to UCF, 3-0, both at home.
> Dilara Gedikoglu leads the Hurricane and ranks third in the conference with 4.12 kills per set. She adds 2.53 digs per frame and 19 total aces to her all around game.
> Callie Cook is the only other Tulsa player averaging better than 2.00 kills per set, as she chips in with 2.13.
> Roosa Rautio (5.69 assists/set) and Mariah Pardo (4.68 assists/set) split the setting duties.
> Taylor Horsfall leads the conference with 5.91 digs per set, a number that also ranks her fourth in the nation.
> Cook is the top blocker, averaging 1.11 per set, ranking her sixth in the American.
> As a team, Tulsa hits .190, while opponents attack at a .195 clip against them.
