Men's Basketball Hosts Rider Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - Temple men's basketball hosts former East Coast Conference rival Rider Saturday (1 pm/ESPN3/1210 AM WPHT) in its final game before the start of American Athletic Conference play. The Owls (7-3) will be looking to rebound from a tough 78-77 loss to Miami Tuesday in the 2019 Air Force Reserve Basketball Hall of Fame while the Broncs (7-2) will seek to extend their current five-game win streak.

> Temple Athletics Toy Drive: Fans bringing an new unwrapped toy to will be given a $5 ticket discount at the door. All fans are encouraged to bring toys to the game as they will be distributed to needy children in the area.
> Fans wearing "ugly sweaters" will be able to receive $1 off the purchase of a ticket to the Rider game.Â
> It is also Dollar Dog Day.
Scouting the Owls
> Temple, under the direction of first-year head coach Aaron McKie, sports a balanced attack with three players averaging double figures and another four averaging 5.9 points or more.
> Senior guard Quinton Rose leads the Cherry and White in scoring (14.6 ppg) and assists (36) and is tied for second in steals (16).
> Junior guard Nate Pierre-Louis tops Temple in rebounding (9.1 rpg), steals (23) and blocks (6) while ranking second in scoring (12.0 ppg) and assists (35).Â
> Senior Alani Moore II (10.1 ppg) has more than doubled his offensive output from last year (4.1 ppg) while leading the team in three-pointers (25) and free throw percentage (.875).
> Rounding out the starting five are juniors J.P. Moorman II (5.9 ppg), who ranks second on the team in rebounding (5.8 rpg), and Justyn Hamilton (4.1 ppg).
> Sophomore Jake Forrester (8.7 ppg), junior De'Vondre Perry (7.4 ppg) and redshirt junior Monty Scott (6.3 ppg) have provided the most impact from the Owls' deep bench. Forrester, who scored a career-high 17 points against Saint Joseph's, leads the team in field goal percentage (22-35, .629). Perry, who tallied a career-high 18 points in the Owls last game (Miami), is the team's top three-point threat (13-27, .481), while Scott has topped double figures in each of his last two outings.

> Rider, under the direction of eighth-year head coach Kevin Baggett, was picked to finish second in the MAAC after finishing tied for second in the regular season standings a year ago.
> Eight of the 12 players on the Broncs roster are from the Philadelphia area while Baggett and first year assistant coach Geoff Arnold played at Saint Joseph's in the 1980s. Arnold also served on the Hawks staff the last 11 seasons.
> The Broncs feature four double figure scorers led by Tyere Marshall (17.0 ppg, 10.8 rpg), who is averaging a double-double. Â
> Point guard Stevie Jordan (14.9 ppg) runs the Rider attack and has amassed over 500 assists and nearly 200 steals in his career at the school.Â
