Gymnastics Wraps Up Penn’s Pink Meet with a 193.575

PHILADELPHIA—Temple women's gymnastics (7-9, 1-1 ECAC) scored a 193.575 in Penn's Pink Meet on Sunday afternoon. The Owls took fourth in the competition at the Palestra. West Virginia won the meet with a 195.250, Bridgeport was second with a 194.775 and Penn took third with a 193.825.

Beam 
> Temple started off the meet on beam, scoring a 48.55.
> The sophomores shined for the Owls in their first rotation. Jordyn Oster put up a 9.7 in the second spot and Delaney Garin scored an impressive 9.75. Monica Servidio continued her excellence as the anchor, tying for first place in the event with a 9.85.

Floor
> Floor was the team's best event of the afternoon, as Temple scored a 48.7 on the event.
> Three Owls posted or tied their career-best on floor. Garin led off the event for Temple with a career-best 9.725 and freshman Taylor Newland followed with a career-best 9.7. Servidio earned a 9.8, which tied her career-best set earlier this season.
> Senior India Anderson was stellar in her signature event, scoring a 9.85.

Vault
> Temple scored a 48.125 on vault.
> Freshman Ariana Castrence, Servidio and junior Jazmyn Estrella were solid for the Owls, scoring 9.625, 9.65 and 9.675, respectively.
> Junior Jaylene Everett tied for first place in the event with a 9.75.

Bars
> The Owls recorded a 48.2 on their final event of the meet.
> Junior Daisy Todd posted a season-best 9.8 to lead off the lineup for Temple.
> Sophomores Garin and Tori Edwards continued the momentum. Garin smashed her previous career-best, scoring a 9.775 and Edwards recorded a strong 9.7.
> Castrence shattered her career-best as well, putting up a team-high 9.825.

All-Around
> Servidio competed in the all-around for the Owls. She took third place overall, scoring a 38.4.

From the Coach
> "We overcame a lot and showed a lot of depth," said head coach Josh Nilson. "We put two vaulters in today that weren't in the lineup two weeks ago. As a team, we are so deep and healthy. The athletes are disappointed in the overall result, but their hearts and minds are in the right place. They are going to come back next week and be ready for Southern Utah."

> Temple will travel to Southern Utah to take on the Thunderbirds on Friday, Feb. 15. Competition is set to begin at 9 p.m. EST.
