Gymnastics Heads to Southern Utah for Friday Matchup

PHILADELPHIA— Temple women's gymnastics will travel west to take on Southern Utah in a dual meet matchup on Friday, Feb. 15. The Owls will face the Thunderbirds in the America First Event Center at 9 p.m. EST.
The Owls
>The Owls are led by head coach Josh Nilson, who is in his first season leading the Cherry and White.
> Last time out, Temple (7-9, 1-1 ECAC) scored a 193.575 in Penn's Pink Meet on Sunday afternoon. The Owls took fourth in the competition at the Palestra. West Virginia won the meet with a 195.250, Bridgeport was second with a 194.775 and Penn took third with a 193.825.
> The Owls put on several impressive performances on floor last weekend, making the event their strongest of the afternoon. Three Owls posted or tied their career-bests. Sophomore Delaney Garin led off the event for Temple with a career-best 9.725 and freshman Taylor Newland followed with a career-best 9.7. Servidio earned a 9.8, which tied her career-best set earlier this season. Senior India Anderson was stellar in her signature event, scoring a 9.85.
> Two Owls also recorded career-bests on bars at Penn's Pink Meet. Garin reset her personal record with a 9.775 and freshman Ariana Castrence smashed her career-best with a team-high 9.825.
> Servidio and junior Jaylene Everett each came away with event titles. Servidio tied for first place on beam with a 9.85 and Everett tied for the title on vault with a 9.75.
Scouting Southern Utah
> Southern Utah is led by head coach Scott Bauman, who is in his 28th season at the helm of the program.
> Last time out, Southern Utah fell to No. 23 Iowa State 195.375-195.250 on Friday, Feb. 8.
> The team posted a 48.675 on vault, 49.025 on bars, 48.575 on beam and 48.975 on floor. The Thunderbirds' bars score was a season-high.
> This is the first meeting between Temple and Southern Utah.
