Gymnastics Scores Season-High 195.175 on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA—Temple women's gymnastics (12-14, 2-1 ECAC) earned a season-best 195.175 to win its tri meet matchup against Centenary and William & Mary on Senior Day. William & Mary took second place with a 191.525 and Centenary finished third with a 191.5. The squad was dominant on Sunday afternoon, as it had the highest team score on all four events and had won all of the individual event titles.
Vault
> The Owls started off the meet on vault, earning their second-highest score of the season with a 48.775.
> Juniors Jazmyn Estrella and Jaylene Everett were strong for Temple, scoring a 9.725 and 9.8, respectively. Everett's mark was good for third place in the event.
> Sophomore Monica Servidio and freshman Ariana Castrence went one-two in the event. Servidio recorded a huge career-best with a 9.825 to take second place and Castrence tied her career-best with a 9.85 to take the crown.
Bars
> Temple tied its second-highest bars score of the season, earning a 48.7 in its second rotation.
> Sophomore Tori Edwards put on a strong routine, garnering a 9.7.
> Temple placed three Owls on the podium, as junior Daisy Todd finished third with a 9.725, Servidio took second with a 9.75 and Estrella took the title with a season-best 9.875.
Beam
> In the third rotation of the afternoon, the squad posted a 48.7 on beam.
> Estrella, Castrence and sophomore Jordyn Oster came up big for the Owls. Estrella scored a 9.75, while Castrence and Oster both earned a 9.775.
> Sophomore Delaney Garin had on a dazzling routine, scoring a career-best 9.85 to earn the event title.
Floor
> The Owls were impressive on their final event of the competition, scoring a 49.0.
> Castrence and sophomore Erica Fuchs were superb, recording a 9.75 and 9.775, respectively.
> Edwards and Servidio put on excellent routines, each scoring a 9.8. They tied with William & Mary's Aaliyah Kerr for third place on floor.
> Senior India Anderson capped off her final meet in McGonigle Hall with an outstanding performance. She earned a 9.875 in her signature event, taking the event title.
All-Around
> Castrence and Servidio competed in the all-around for the Owls. Servidio took third place with a 38.475 and Castrence earned first with a 39.025. This is Castrence's second all-around title of the season.
From the Coach
> "We earned every bit of this score," said head coach Josh Nilson. "These girls fought hard and I'm very proud of them. We had three career-highs: Delaney on beam and Monica and Ariana on vault. Those performances helped us a lot. Going back-to-back is tough, but they pulled together as a team and did it. I told them that we wanted to send the seniors off with our very best effort, and that's what we did."

> Temple will be back in action on Sunday, March 17 as it travels to ECAC foe Brown to face the Bears and the Bridgeport Purple Knights. Competition is set to begin at 1 p.m.
