Gymnastics Wraps up Regular Season on Sunday at Brown Tri Meet

PHILADELPHIA— Temple women's gymnastics will round out its regular season slate on Sunday, March 17 as it travels to Providence, R.I. to face Brown and Bridgeport in a tri meet matchup. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. in the Pizzitola Sports Center.
The Owls
>The Owls are led by head coach Josh Nilson, who is in his first season leading the Cherry and White.
> Last time out, Temple (12-14, 2-1 ECAC) earned a season-best 195.175 to win its tri meet matchup against Centenary and William & Mary on March 10. William & Mary took second place with a 191.525 and Centenary finished third with a 191.5. The squad was dominant on Senior Day, as it had the highest team score on all four events and had won all of the individual event titles.
> Yet again, the squad was stellar on floor Sunday night, scoring a 49.0. Freshman Ariana Castrence and sophomore Erica Fuchs were superb, recording a 9.75 and 9.775, respectively. Sophomores Tori Edwards and Monica Servidio put on excellent routines, each scoring a 9.8. They tied with William & Mary's Aaliyah Kerr for third place. Senior India Anderson wrapped up her final home meet with a spectacular performance. She earned a 9.875, taking first place in the event.
> Anderson earned ECAC Specialist of the Week for her standout performance in both of Temple's home meets last weekend. She is a three-time recipient of this honor. The Allendale, S.C. native capped off her final meets in McGonigle Hall with two outstanding floor routines. She anchored the Owls on Friday and Sunday in her signature event, taking the event title on both days with a pair 9.875s. These were Anderson's seventh and eighth scores of 9.85 or higher on floor this season. Anderson helped the team earn a 49.3 on Friday to tie the program's floor record.
> Castrence earned her third ECAC weekly accolade of the season as well, as she was named ECAC Rookie of the Week for the second time and has also been the ECAC Gymnast of the Week. Castrence had an impressive weekend for the Owls, competing in the all-around competition in both Friday and Sunday's meets. In Friday's competition against Maryland, SCSU and West Chester, Castrence posted a career-best 9.85 on floor to propel her to a 38.950 all-around score. She earned second place for her efforts. On Sunday, she was superb as well, tying her career-best with a 9.85 on vault. Castrence won the all-around title with a 39.025.
Scouting Bridgeport
> Bridgeport is led by head coach Byron Knox, who is in his 15th season at the helm of the program.
> Last time out, Bridgeport competed against SCSU on Saturday, March 16. The Purple Knights defeated the Owls, 194.425-192.1. The team scored a 48.7 on vault, 49.175 on bars, 47.9 on beam and 48.65 on floor.
> The Owls lead the all-time series against the Purple Knights, 19-13. The teams last met on Feb. 22 at Temple's Ken Anderson Invitational. Bridgeport came out on top, 195.35-194.950.
Scouting Brown
> Brown is led by Sara Carver-Milne, who is in her 17th season as head coach of the Bears.
> The team last competed on Sunday, March 10 against Maryland, Penn and SCSU. The Bears finished fourth with a 191.45. The squad scored a 48.75 on vault, 46.9 on bars, 47.375 on beam and 48.425 on floor.
> Brown holds the advantage in the all-time series against Temple, 8-6. Last time the teams met was in 2018, when the Bears defeated the Owls 194.025-192.625 in the ECAC Championships.
