Twenty Owls Named to 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad

GILBERT, Ariz. -  With 20 student-athletes named to the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, Temple tied for the second-most honorees of all 76 institutions to make the list.

This year, 940 total student-athletes earned recognition. The Division I National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year.

Miami University led all institutions with 21 selections. Five schools tied for second-most including Temple, with the Owls joined by Brown, Bucknell, Harvard and Sacred Heart. 

Seniors Jessika Daniels, Nellie Doyle, Chloe Johnson and Maris Stern earned the honor all four years of their Temple field hockey careers.

Last week, Temple was announced as a Division I National Academic Team for earning a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2018-19 school year. The Owls were well above the mark, earning a semester GPA of 3.53 in the fall. Temple is currently sporting a team cumulative GPA of 3.55, which is the highest in program history.
