Dani Batze Named 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction

GILBERT, Ariz. - For a second straight year, Dani Batze has been named a Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction. The sophomore is one of 140 student-athletes to earn the honor.

The Division I Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year.

Batze, an advertising major with a 3.94 GPA, started in all 18 games for the Owls this past season. With seven defensive saves, she ranked third among all players in NCAA Division I. Batze, a defender, also scored her first career goal in the Owls' 2-1 win vs. Towson after also recording her first career assist in a 3-2 win at Lafayette.

Last week, 20 Owls were named to the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. The previous week, Temple was announced as a Division I National Academic Team for earning a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2018-19 school year. The Owls were well above the mark, earning a semester GPA of 3.53 in the fall. Temple is currently sporting a team cumulative GPA of 3.55, which is the highest in program history.
