Gymnastics Hosts Alumni Night Quad Meet Friday

PHILADELPHIA— Temple women's gymnastics will welcome Maryland, Southern Connecticut State and West Chester to McGonigle Hall on Friday, March 8 for Alumni Night. Competition is set to begin at 7 p.m.

The Owls
>The Owls are led by head coach Josh Nilson, who is in his first season at the helm the Cherry and White.
> Last time out, Temple (8-13, 1-1 ECAC) posted a 194.000 in a tri meet matchup against No. 23 Ohio State and No. 24 West Virginia on March 2. Temple placed third, as Ohio State won the competition with a 196.850 and West Virginia took second with a 196.100.
> Temple had its strongest showing on bars last weekend, as the team scored a 48.7. Freshman Ariana Castrence, sophomore Tori Edwards and junior Jazmyn Estrella were stellar, each posting a 9.7. Two of the team's captains, Delaney Garin and Daisy Todd were superb for the Owls, scoring a 9.725 and 9.75, respectively. Temple's performance was highlighted by sophomore Monica Servidio resetting her career-best with a 9.825.
> Servidio earned ECAC Coaches Choice weekly honors for her standout performance in Saturday's tri meet against No. 23 Ohio State and No. 24 West Virginia. The sophomore had a significant impact on the Owls' lineup with her trademark consistency and high-level execution on all four events. She posted a 39.025 in the all-around competition with a 9.725 on vault, career-best 9.825 on bars, 9.75 on beam and 9.725 on floor. This was Servidio's second ECAC weekly honor of the season, as she was named Gymnast of the Week on Feb. 5.

Scouting Maryland
> Maryland is led by head coach Brett Nelligan, who is in his tenth season at the helm of the program.
> Last time out Maryland competed against George Washington on Monday, March 4. The Terps topped the Colonials, 194.975-194.675. The team posted a 48.75 on vault, 48.25 on bars, 48.825 on beam and a season-best 49.15 on floor.
> The Terps lead the all-time series against the Owls, 37-10. The teams last met on March 9, 2018. Maryland just edged out Temple, 195.975-195.800.
 
Scouting SCSU
> SCSU is led by Jerry Nelson, who is in his 15th season as head coach of the Owls.
> SCSU last competed on Friday, March 1 against Towson and Bridgeport. The Tigers finished third with a 190.050. The squad scored a 48.125 on vault, 46.175 on bars, 47.45 on beam and 48.3 on floor.
> Temple holds the advantage in the all-time series against SCSU, 10-4. Last time the squads met in 2017, Temple defeated SCSU 194.975-190.500.
 
Scouting West Chester
> Barbara Cordova is in her tenth season as head coach of the Golden Rams.
> West Chester last competed at Ursinus on Saturday, March 2. The Golden Rams defeated the Bears, 191.150-186.825. The team posted a 46.825 on vault, 48.4 on bars, 48.4 on beam and 47.525 on floor.
> The Owls have been dominant in matchups against the Golden Rams, leading the series 42-9. The teams last met in 2018, when Temple downed West Chester, 194.625-185.175.
