Field Hockey Signs Team IMPACT Recruit Brenna Ruoff

PHILADELPHIA - One final recruit has been signed by Temple field hockey first-year head coach Susan Ciufo, with the very special addition of Brenna Ruoff to the TUFH family. Brenna signed with the team in a special ceremony prior to the Owls' preseason alumni scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 17.
Brenna and the Owls were connected through Team IMPACT, a national organization that enhances relationships between children and student-athletes through the power of friendship and teamwork. Brenna and the rest of the Owls will now work to motivate and inspire one another through many of life's greatest challenges.Â
"We heard about Team Impact through a friend who was involved with the organization in Vermont," said Brenna's mother, Mindy. "After we went to a camp weekend, we decided to look into it and it started rolling from there. We found out we were matched with Temple field hockey in the late spring. The leadership team reached out to us and communicated over the summer, and now we're here! All the girls seem really great and I'm excited for their support of Brenna and for the whole experience to come."Â Â
In 2016, Brenna was diagnosed with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder primarily affecting bones and joints. Her physical activity is very limited and she works with a number of doctors to treat a variety of problems that arise.
"Team Impact is something that meant a lot to me when I was at Stonehill College," said Ciufo. "Our teammate was Mary Alice and the experience was life-changing both for her, her family and for our team. It brought so much to our program. As much as it's all about hockey, we have this platform to do so many good things.Â
When the opportunity came up to do it again here, we thought it was a no-brainer to bring Brenna into the TUFH family. This is new for our team here so they don't know exactly what to expect, but they've been getting to know her and they're really excited for what the future holds."
