Field Hockey Wins BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Award for a Third Straight Year
8.7.19 | Field Hockey
NEW YORK -Â The BIG EAST Conference has announced the 22 teams that have been recognized with 2018-19 Team Academic Excellence Awards for having the highest collective grade-point averages in each conference sport. Temple field hockey, with a 3.52 GPA, won the honor among the other field hockey programs in the league for an impressive third straight year.
The winners were chosen based on the 2018-19 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster as of the last contest of the championship segment in each conference-sponsored sport.
Earlier this year, 20 Temple field hockey student-athletes were named to the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCAÂ Division I National Academic Squad, while rising junior Dani Batze was named a Scholar of Distinction for a second straight year.
The Owls will begin the 2019 season under first-year head coach Susan Ciufo at home against Merrimack on Friday, Aug. 30.
