Women’s Basketball to Play Wichita State Wednesday Night

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's basketball team hosts Wichita State in McGonigle Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 5 for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
THE OWLS
> Temple enters Wednesday night's game at 13-8 overall and 5-3 in the American Athletic Conference. The Owls are currently fourth in the conference.
> Junior Mia Davis leads Temple with 19.5 points and 10.9 boards per game. Her rebounds per night ranks 13th in the country and first in the American.
> Davis totals 14 double-doubles on the season, which ties for third-most in the nation.
> Redshirt sophomore Ashley Jones adds 16.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Jones leads the Cherry and White with her 80.5 free throw percentage.
> Marissa Mackins is the third Owl to average double-digit points with 14 per night. Mackins leads both Temple and the American with 63 three-pointers this season.
> Graduate student Lena Niang is the second leading rebounder for Temple with 6.1 boards per game. Niang nets 7.6 points per game and is the second leading three-point shooter for the Owls.
> Freshman Asonah Alexander is the American assists leader with 98 on the year, averaging 4.7 per game. Her assist/turnover ratio of 2.97 ranks first in the conference and eighth in the country.
LAST TIME OUT: Temple 67, UCF 65
> The Owls won their fifth conference matchup of the season with a 67-65 victory over UCF on Jan. 29 at home.
> Despite seeing a lead as large as 12 slip away, Temple got hot when it counted, coming up with a two big defensive stops to finish out a gritty win.
> After a 30-30 halftime tie, Temple had a huge start to the third quarter, going up 48-36 and seemingly creating breathing room. However, UCF answered, getting the lead down to one.
> A back-and-fourth fourth quarter saw the Owls do just enough down the stretch, as Temple won its fifth conference game of the year.
> The Owls out-rebounded UCF 41-30 working around 18 turnovers.
> The Knights out-shot Temple by a slim 44% to 43% margin, but Temple racked up nine makes from long range while UCF had just three triples in the game.
> Mackins led Temple with 22 points and five rebounds.

> Carla Bremaud totals a team-best 27 threes on the year. The sophomore also leads the Shockers with her 83.3% from the foul line.
> Seraphine Bastin is the leading rebounder for Wichita State, pulling down 5.2 boards per game. Bastin has also dished out a team-high 63 assists.
> Wichita State is second in the American with 10.0 steals per outing.

> The Shockers topped ECU 57-55 in Wichita on Feb. 1.
> Raven Prince and Asia Henderson each chipped in 11 points for Wichita State while Seraphine Bastin led in the rebound and assist columns for the Shockers with nine and four, respectively.
> ECU had a better shooting day than the Shockers, finishing 42.3% from the floor as Wichita State collected a 36.4 field goal shooting percentage. However, Wichita won the battle on the boards, outrebounding the Pirates 33-29.
