Gymnastics Set for Dual at UNH

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple gymnastics team is back on the road for the second meet of a five-meet road stretch. The Owls travel north to New Hampshire on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. dual meet.

OWL ABOUT TEMPLE
In week two of competition, Temple improved its team score, by over a point, recording a 193.600 on the road at Towson's tri-meet. All three teams were separated by just one point, with #21 NC State finishing with a 194.600, followed by Towson at 194.225, and Temple, just .625 off the Tigers.

The Owls had three podium finishes, including a pair from junior Ariana Castrence (VT - 2nd; UB - 3rd). Senior Faith Leary took second on floor, her second podium finish on the event in two weeks.

SCOUTING UNH
UNH enters Saturday's meet with an 0-1 record. The Wildcats are two-time defending EAGL Champions, having won at the championship meet in 2019 and being declared Co-Champions in the halted 2020 season, based on NQS. Sophomore Kylie Gorgenyi junior Hailey Lui each earned All-EAGL First Team in multiple events to highlight the Wildcats' returners.

LAST MEET FOR UNH
The Wildcats dropped their season opener to EAGL opponent, North Carolina, 195.200 to 194.375. UNH notched 10 scores of 9.800 or better and finished with the highest floor score of the night at 48.750.

Kylie Gorgenyi (39.075)  won the All-Around and vault titles (9.875) 48.75 on floor, while Robyn Kelley tied for the title on floor with a 9.875. UNH also notched six other podium finishes at the meet.

RANKINGS ROUND-UP
Temple's floor squad broke into the national rankings at #23, with the team combining for a 48.863 average. The number also ranks third in the EAGL. Individually, senior Faith Leary leads the way and is also ranked 23rd nationally on the event, while topping the conference.

As a team, the Owls rank second in the EAGL on vault (48.788) with sophomore Madison Brooks fifth (9.825).
