Temple University Athletics mourns the loss of Temple Athletics Hall of Famer Carol Sauppe Parsons.  She passed away on January 2 at the age of 63.

Ms. Parsons, who was the recipient of the University's first female athletics scholarship, led Temple to its first national field hockey tournament in 1978. Coached by another Temple Hall of Famer Tina Sloan Green, Ms. Parsons immediately became an impact player for the Owls, leading the field hockey team in scoring for three straight seasons.

In 1975, her freshman season, she had 27 goals to set a University record. The previous year (1974), Temple field hockey only tallied 11 goals as a team.  She had 12 goals against Beaver College for another Temple mark. She had numerous outstanding games during her career, recording hat tricks in several important victories over teams like Penn, La Salle, Saint Joseph's and Eastern.
