Women's Basketball Takes On FGCU Friday Night

PHILADELPHIA - The Owls take on the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles in their second contest of the season on Friday, Nov. 12 at 6:00 pm at Alico Arena in Fort Myers, Fla. The game will be aired on ESPN+.
LAST WEEK
> The Owls picked up a season-opening win over Saint Francis (PA) by a score of 73-53. After a tightly-contested first quarter, the Owls took a 10-point lead going into the break. From there, the Cherry & White took control of the game, outscoring the Red Flash by 10 points in the second half.
THE OWLS
> After picking up a season-opening win over Saint Francis, The Owls have now won 10 of their last 11 season openers.
> Mia Davis, this year's AAC Preseason Player of the Year, scored 18 points and grabbed four rebounds in the win against Saint Francis.
> Graduate transfer guard Jiselle Thomas scored a team-high 20 points in her Temple debut.
> In the season opener, seven Owls made their Temple debut. In addition to Thomas leading the starters in scoring, freshman Tiarra East led the bench in scoring.
> Point guard Jasha Clinton, named to the AAC All-Freshman Team last season, notched a team-high three steals against the Red Flash.
SCOUTING FLORIDA GULF COAST
> Florida Gulf Coast finished last season 26-3 overall and 16-0 in the conference. FGCU won every game home and away, only losing in neutral-site venues.
> The Eagles are led by guards Kierstan Bell and Tishara Morehouse. Both guards averaged north of 16.0 points per game last season.
> In its opening game of the season against Fla. Memorial, FGCU had four players score in double figures.
> The last time that these two teams met, Morehouse scored 25 points while Bell notched a double-double.
LAST TIME THEY MET
> The last time that the Owls faced off against the Eagles was back in 2020 when Temple fell to FGCU by a score of 78-69 in Fort Myers.
> Mia Davis recorded a career-high 34 points on 12-18 shooting and 2-3 from three-point range. No other Owl scored in double figures.
> Three Owls recorded double-digit rebounds (Alexander, 14; Davis, 12; Williamson, 11).
