Field Hockey Tops Quinnipiac in Shootout for First Conference Win

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Temple field hockey team survived Quinnipiac in its first conference match of the season, topping the Bobcats 3-2 in a shootout. The Owls are now 5-1 (1-0 BIG EAST) on the season and off to their best start since going 7-1-1 in 1991.
Recapping the Game
> Sophomore Myrthe Schuilenburg scored her first of the season on a penalty stroke to put Temple on the board with less than a minute left in the first quarter.
> Quinnipiac answered quickly, finding the back of the cage with just one second left on the clock.
> The Owls pulled ahead early in the second quarter as Devin Kinzel scored her first career goal with an assist from Schuilenburg.
> The Bobcats once again found the equalizer, scoring off an errant penalty corner insert from Temple.
> Neither team was able to find the go-ahead goal in the second half, forcing two overtime situations.
> The game then went to a shootout, where the Nienke Oerlemans scored the game-winning stroke. The Owls made three attempts to Quinnipiac's one.
