Women's Basketball Begins Road Stretch With Trip To Memphis on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's basketball team travels to Memphis to take on the Tigers on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 3:00pm EST. Temple enters the contest having won four of its last five games. The game is scheduled to air on ESPN+.

LAST GAME
> Temple erased a 15-point first half deficit against the Cincinnati Bearcats to win its fourth game out of the last five contests on Wednesday evening.
> Down by 15 points midway through the second quarter, the Owls shaved the deficit courtesy of a 10-3 run before halftime to trim the Bearcats' lead to eight. In the second half, the Owls continued to claw back into the game, taking their first lead of the game with just under four minutes to go in the final quarter.
> Davis: game-high 22 points and six rebounds
> Jasha Clinton: 14 points and three assists
> Caranda Parea: 10 points and one block

THE OWLS
> After winning four of their last five games, the Owls enter Saturday's matchup against the Tigers ranked third in the American Athletic Conference standings.
> Davis leads the conference in points per game, minutes per game, and field goal percentage this season. Davis has been playing some of her best basketball of the season in conference play, averaging 21.6 points per game.
> Clinton has be an integral part of Temple's success this season. Clinton has averaged 9.0 points per game in AAC play and leads the team in assists.
> Freshman guard Aniya Gourdine comes into Saturday's game as the AAC freshman of the week for the third time this season. Against USF, Gourdine nearly recorded a triple-double, scoring 12 points, dishing out 10 assists and grabbing eight rebounds.

SCOUTING MEMPHIS
> The Tigers have split their last four games in AAC play, defeating Houston and Wichita State while dropping contests to Tulane and Tulsa.
> Memphis is led by a balanced scoring attack as only one player averages more than 10 points per game, but six players score more than five per contest.
> The Tigers pride themselves on rebounding the basketball as Memphis is currently third in the conference in rebounds per game.

LAST TIME THEY MET
> The last time that these two teams met, the Owls got the best of the Tigers as freshman Jasha Clinton scored 23 points to lead Temple to a 66-52 win.
> The Owls recorded a season-best 19 steals in the win, while tying their season-low of 10 turnovers. 
> Temple shot 36.4% from the floor and 71.4% from the foul line. The Owls' three-point shooting suffered as they went 3-for-14 from long range. 
> Memphis committed 25 turnovers, the most of any of Temple's opponents this season.
> Junior Alexa Williamson finished just shy of a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds as she tied her career-high four steals. 
> Davis was the third Owl to score in double figures with 16 points. The forward added eight rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal to her stat line. 
> Senior Emani Mayo chipped in six points and six rebounds for Temple.
