Football Falls to Tulsa, 27-16

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Temple (2-5, 0-3) fell to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (3-4, 1-2) by a score of 27-16. Despite the loss, the defense battled. The Owls forced three takeaways including Layton Jordan's second pick six of the season to open the scoring.

- On Tulsa's inaugural drive, OLB Layton Jordan picked the ball off and took it to the house, giving the Owls a 7-0 lead. Now back on defense, the Owls took the ball away once again with an interception by CB Jalen McMurray. In Tulsa territory, Temple was forced to settle for a 32-yard field goal by Camden Price, giving Temple an early 10-0 lead.
- Sacks by Jordan and DL Darian Varner assisted in forcing Tulsa to punt on three straight drives. The teams then exchanged multiple punts to close out the first quarter.
- Midway through the second quarter, Tulsa was able to piece together a 94-yard drive capped off by an 18-yard touchdown pass from QB Davis Brin to RB Deneric Prince.
- To close out the half, Tulsa completed another long drive with a touchdown, this time on a shuffle pass to TE Ethan Hill. The drive was 86 yards long and put Tulsa up 14-10.
- With five minutes remaining in the third quarter, Tulsa was making gains until LB Jordan Magee stripped Prince to position Temple around midfield. However, a missed field goal left the Owls without points.
- Tulsa kicker Zack Long would then break the scoring drought with a 24-yard field goal, giving the Golden Hurricane a 17-10 lead.
- With 10 minutes remaining in the game, Prince would take an 84-yard rush into the end zone, putting Tulsa up 24-10.
- Temple would strike back with an 88-yard drive, capped off with a 23-yard touchdown reception by WR Amad Anderson Jr., his first of the season. The two-point conversion attempt would fail, keeping the score at 24-16, Tulsa.
- A stop on defense, thanks to two TFL by LB Yvandy Rigby, would give Temple the ball back with three minutes remaining. However, the Owls efforts would come up short. The Golden Hurricane would then tack on a late field goal to set Tulsa up 27-16.

- CB Jalen McMurray intercepted the first pass of his career.
- OLB Layton Jordan tacked on his second pick-six of the season, making him the first Temple player with two in the same season since SAF Sean Chandler in 2015.
- Jordan also had his third multi-sack game of the season.
- DL Darian Varner had the most sacks in a single game (3.5) since OLB Quincy Roche in 2019.
- RB Edward Saydee had 20 a career high 20 carries.
- WR Amad Anderson Jr., reeled in eight catches for a career-high 112 yards.
