Volleyball Downed By Wichita State on Sunday, 3-1

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple volleyball team dropped its second consecutive match with a four-set loss to Wichita State on Sunday inside McGonigle Hall, 13-25, 18-25, 25-21, 20-25.
The loss drops Temple to 9-16 overall and 3-11 in the AAC, while Wichita State improves to 13-11 overall with an 8-5 conference record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wichita State's Natalie Foster (16) and Sophia Rohling (14) combined for 30 kills in the victory.
- The Shockers had four players with 10 or more digs, including Katie Galligan and Morgan Weber, with a team-high 14 digs.
- Temple setter Patrycja Zielinska recorded her third career double-double with 35 assists and 15 digs.
- Peyton Boyd led the Owls with 13 kills in the loss.
Set 1 (Wichita State 25, Temple 13)
- Wichita State led from wire-to-wire in the first set after jumping out to 8-0 lead to begin the set.
- The Shockers hit .345 in the first set with 12 kills, and two errors on 29 attempts.
- WSU held Temple to a .057 hitting percentage on eight kills, six errors on 35 attempts.
Set 2 (Wichita State 25, Temple 18)
- At the second set's outset, both teams were locked at a 4-4 tie. Temple secured the lead on three occasions, but just by a single point.
- With the Shockers up, 11-10, they scored four unanswered points on the serve of Morgan Stout, including back-to-back attack errors by Temple's Jelena Prolic.
- With the score 17-14, WSU's Weber iced the set for the Shockers with a pair of aces.
- Foster had a set-high six kills on a .625 hitting percentage.
- Four different Shockers had at least one block in the set.
Set 3 (Temple 25, Wichita State 21)
- The Shockers forced Temple to take a timeout after jumping out to a 10-5 advantage as Morgan Stout gave her team the lead, including back-to-back kills from Sophia Rohling on her serve.
- The Cherry and White chipped away at the WSU lead in which it scored 9-of-14 points, forcing the Shockers into a timeout. During the run, Boyd had three of the five kills at that stage.
- After the aforementioned timeout, the Owls pushed ahead by four points, 23-19, with Taylor Davenport putting away two kills, and Boyd led the Owls to a victory with her sixth kill of the set.
- Overall, the Dumfries, Va. native Boyd had a set-high six kills, hitting .375
Set 4 (Wichita State 25, Temple 20)
- Temple forced WSU to call timeout as it jumped out a 10-5 lead to begin the set. During the run, Taylor Davenport led the way with a pair of kills, while Chudear Tut added a service ace and a kill.
- The Shockers forced Temple into a timeout, when Sophia Rohling helped give her team take the lead with a pair of her five kills in the set.
- With the score 15-12 in favor of Wichita State, the Shockers forced Temple into three straight-hitting errors, taking the lead 17-12.

Temple continues AAC play next weekend as it travels to Memphis and SMU. On Friday, Nov. 11, the Owls will take on the Tigers at 7 p.m. ET and then travel to SMU on Sunday, Nov. 13 with the match set for 2 p.m. ET.
