Men’s Basketball Hosts SMU Wednesday Night

2.14.22 | Men's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA – Temple (13-9, 6-5 AAC) will look to snap a two-game losing streak when the Owls host SMU (18-5, 9-2 AAC) Wednesday night (9 pm/ESPNU/1210 AM WPHT) at the Liacouras Center.

The Owls are hoping to have their top two scorers back in the lineup for the game.  Freshman point guard Jeremiah Williams injured his right shoulder in the first half of the team's loss at South Florida (52-49) while redshirt freshman guard Damian Dunn injured his right ankle in the final minutes of that game.  Both missed Temple's overtime loss at Tulane Saturday and will be gametime decisions for the SMU game.

SMU has won two straight, including ending #6 Houston's 12-game win streak, 85-83, on Feb. 9.   The Mustangs are now tied atop the conference standings with the Cougars while the Owls are tied for fifth with Cincinnati.  The top five teams in the AAC get first-round byes in the conference tournament.
In the first meeting this season, SMU used a late 13-0 run to overtake Temple in posting a 69-61 win in Dallas.

> Damian Dunn, who leads the Owls in scoring (15.5 ppg/7th AAC) and free throw percentage (95-112, .848/3rd AAC), missed the team's last game and is questionable for the SMU game with an ankle injury.
> Jeremiah Williams, who left the USF game with a right shoulder injury and missed the Tulane loss, is second on the team in scoring (9.8 ppg) and runs the show offensively. Questionable for SMU, he leads the Owls in assists (4.4 apg, 5th AAC), assist-to-turnover ratio (2.00/t4h AAC) and steals (29).
> Nick Jourdain (7.3 ppg), who has averaged 11.2 ppg since Jan. 1. He leads TU in blocks (1.7 bpg/2nd AAC), and offensive rebounding (2.6 pg/2nd AAC) while ranking second in overall rebounding (5.4 rpg)

White, who posted his first career double-double (11 pts, 10 rebs) at Tulsa, is averaging 8.6 ppg and 7.5 rpg since Jan. 1.  He leads the team in rebounding (5.7 rpg) and has grabbed 10 or more rebounds in three of the last eight games.
> Zach Hicks (7.2 ppg), who set a school record with 10 threes vs. Delaware State, leads the Owls with 41 three-pointers. He has been red-hot of late from deep, making 35 of his treys over the last 11 games.
> Quincy Ademokoya and Hysier Miller joined the starting lineup for the team's last game.  Ademokoya had career highs in minutes (36), points (15) and threes (4) while Miller set new marks in minutes (40), points (9) and assists (8).

SCOUTING SMU
> SMU has won seven of its last eight games and is currently tied with Houston atop the AAC,
