Field Hockey Set for BIG EAST Semifinals

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple field hockey team will face Old Dominion in the semifinals round of the BIG EAST Tournament Friday afternoon at Howarth Field. The No. 3 seed Owls have advanced to the tournament for the fourth-straight year and are looking to reach the title game for the first time since 2015. The winner of the game will go on to face either No. 1 Liberty or No. 4 Villanova in the title game.

Scouting Temple
> The Owls are postseason bound for the fourth-straight year, clinching the No. 3 seed with a 3-2 overtime victory at Quinnipiac to close out regular season conference play.
> Temple's No. 3 seed marks the first time since 2015 that the team has been seeded higher than No. 4. That year the Cherry and White was the No. 2 seed, defeating No. 3 Villanova to advance to the BIG EAST title game before falling to No. 1 UConn.
> Three Owls earned All-Conference honors, with Tess Muller being named first team and Molly Frey and Alizé Maes being named second team.
> The Cherry and White has turned around its offensive struggles after being shoutout in four straight games to average 2.2 goals per game in its last six matchups.
> Tess Muller leads the team with six goals, four being game-winners, with Devin Kinzel's four ranking second. Alizé Maes leads the team with eight assists, while Caitlyn Amsden and Muller have posted six each.

> Old Dominion is 12-5 (6-1 BIG EAST) on the season and enters the tournament on a 10-game winning streak. The Monarchs last lost at No. 9 Duke on Sept. 17.
> The team has an explosive offense, outscoring its opponents 54-19 and ranking sixth in the nation in both goals per game (3.18) and scoring average (3.11).
> ODU has a stout defense, posting eight shutouts and coming in second in the NCAA in shutouts per game (0.47).
> Two Monarchs have scored 10+ goals, with Marlon de Bruijne recording 17 and Sacha de Gier scoring 11. de Brujine is sixth in the NCAA in goals per game (1.00) and seventh in points per game (2.35).
> Suus Broers has seen the majority of minutes in the cage for ODU, posting 46 saves for a 1.18 GAA and 0.708 save percentage.
