Temple Hosts the FDU Knights for a Tuesday Morning Tennis Matchup

Philadelphia - The Temple women's tennis team (4-1) will host the FDU Knights (0-3) on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 10:30 a.m. The match will take place at the Legacy Tennis Center in Philadelphia.
 
The OWLS:
  • Temple is coming off a nine-day break, most recently defeating Wagner on Feb. 12, 7-0 to win their third straight.  
  • In the bout against Wagner, the Owls displayed dominance not allowing a point in both doubles matches. The ranked duos of No. 6 Maiko Uchijima and Jamie Wei plus No. 55 Evie Wei and Veronika Kulhava were able to triumph over the top Wagner pairs. 
  • So far this spring, the Owls have seen great singles play along with their success in doubles. Maiko Uchijima (6-1), Jamie Wei (4-0), and newcomer Thamara Frasser Kawaratani (3-1) lead the team in singles wins.
 
 
Scouting the Knights:
  • Last season, the Knights finished with a 9-7 record, going 3-1 in conference play. In the NEC Championship Series, FDU made it to the championship round after beating St. Francis and Sacred Heart before losing to Bryant in the championship round.
  • FDU started off the spring facing tough opponents out of the gate meeting St. John's, NJIT, and most recently Rutgers on Sunday, Feb. 12.
  • The Knights were active in the fall competing in four different invitationals. Throughout, FDU freshman Valentina Silva quickly impressed the masses earning the NEC Rookie of the Month award in October. She started her Knight's campaign earning two victories in singles play at the Hofstra Invitational.
