Laura Nicholson Notches Personal Best as Track & Field Wrap up First Weekend

RALEIGH, N.C. & ORLANDO, FL – The Temple track & field program wrapped up the first weekend of the outdoor season Saturday. Most of the squad competed at the Knights Invitational on the campus of UCF, while indoor All-Conference distance runner Laura Nicholson and freshman Elvira Bredin ran at the Raleigh Relays in the 800m.

Nicholson starred in Raleigh, earning a time of 2:07.36 in the 800m. She set a new personal best and finished seventh in a field of 123 athletes.

Elvira Bredin also put on a strong showing in Raleigh, finishing 22^nd in the field with a time of 2:10.38 in the 800m run.

Results – Knight Invitational

Amira Green and Jaaliyah Evans tied for sixth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.63m (5' 4 ¼). Evans set a new personal best for outdoor high jump in the event.
Tannekee Strachan placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.49m (40' 11 3/4).
The 400m relay team of Chelby Elam, Lauren Greig, Madison Trout, and Chidumga Nkulume had a strong showing, clocking a time of 47.53, earning 4^th place in the contest.
Temple shined in the 400m dash. Nkulume clocking a personal best time of 56.86 and placing 6^th in a field of 34 runners, while Kwanda Knight also set an outdoor personal record with a time of 58.18 in the event.
Several Owls competed in the 100m dash. Chelby Elam put up a strong performance, placing 15^th (12.17 sec). Lauren Greig earned a collegiate best with a time of 12.39 seconds.
Cat Shontz had a strong performance in the 3000m run, clocking a time of 10:33.11, good for second in the meet.
