Davenport Moves to Seventh All-Time In Sweep of UTSA

PHILADELPHIA – Temple graduate student Taylor moved to seventh all-time in program history with 1,452 kills as she connected a match-high 15 kills on Friday night against UTSA. The Owls improved to 3-6 in the American Athletic Conference and 11-12 overall with a 25-15, 25-22, 25-20 victory over the Roadrunners who now drop to 1-8 in the conference and a 7-15 overall.
The win now puts the Cherry and White one game back of Florida Atlantic and Tulane for a tie for eighth place in the AAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Davenport reached her 15 kills with a career-best .565 hitting percentage and now is 10 shy of sixth all-time Katie Harrigan's ('94) 1,462 kills.
- Sophomore setter Lexi Yoza guided the Owls to a season-high hitting percentage .407 on her way to a match-high 46 assists.
- Sydney Jones added 13 kills while hitting .303
- Alyssa Finister adds a career-high 11 kills while hitting .611.
- In the loss, UTSA hit .272 as a team, led by Caroline Trevino and Caroline Durgens with seven kills apiece. Faye Wilbricht hit a team-high .571.
- Other than four tie scores, the Owls led throughout the first set.
- Davenport and Jones had five kills apiece for the Owls with each player hitting over .400.
- Yoza had 14 of 46 assists in set one.
- The Owls held the Roadrunners to a .143 hitting percentage in the set, led by senior Chelci Banks' three blocks.
- UTSA built its largest lead in the second set of five points (15-10), with the help of Isabella Arroyave's three kills and Mia Soerensen's two along with Caroline Krueger's service aces.
- After the media timeout, the Owls scored seven straight points, including a string of six kills to take the lead 17-15. Jones added three with Finister pitching in with two.
- TU never trailed but did allow the Roadrunners to tie the score at 18, but Davenport helped secure the set win with three kills of the Owls final seven points.
- The Columbia, S.C. native Davenport had a set-high six kills with teammates Christiana Greene, Jones, and Finister adding four apiece.
- The third set featured seven ties and two lead changes.
- With the score 3-2 in favor of the Roadrunners, the Owls scored seven of the next eight points with four Temple players recording a kill to force a timeout by the visitors.
- UTSA continued to battle at the net, tying the score at 13-13, forcing Temple into four errors.
- TU pulled away for the win with Banks and Jones putting down two kills apiece in their team's final 10 points.
