Maes, Kinzel Earn BIG EAST Weekly Accolades

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Alize Maes was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Devin Kinzel was named to the honor roll as the BIG EAST announced its final weekly awards of the season on Monday.Â
Maes scored three of the four goals for the Owls in a 2-0 week where they wrapped up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament as well as their first undefeated season at home since 1981. On Friday against Quinnipiac, she scored both goals. The first came on a perfect feed into the circle where she collected and then delivered a perfectly placed ball into the lower left corner. After Quinnipiac tied it early in the fourth, Maes drove home a shot off a corner for the game-winner. On Sunday against Lehigh, she helped put the game away with a strike off the corner again to give Temple its eventual 2-0 margin of victory.Â
Kinzel anchored a back line that allowed just seven total shots and only three on cage during the week. Temple surrendered six shots with only three on goal on Friday against Quinnipiac before allowing only one, off-target attempt on Sunday against Lehigh. She also added the game-winning goal on Sunday against the Mountain Hawks and came away with an assist on the insurance tally.Â
The Owls begin their postseason run on Friday, taking on Old Dominion in the semifinals of the BIG EAST tournament in Providence, R.I. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
