PHILADELPHIA – The No. 11 Temple Fencing team travels to Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., for the Tradition Meet this Sunday, December 8.

Temple will begin the day at 11 a.m. against LIU, followed by NJIT at 12 p.m., NYU at 1:30 p.m., Sacred Heart at 2:30 p.m., and will finish the day competing against host school Vassar at 3:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Owls were last in action three weeks ago at the Elite Invitational hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. The dual meet was a great early season test for Temple, as they competed against four schools ranked within the top 15 of the national coaches' preseason poll. Earning wins over Air Force and No. 14 Stanford, Temple finished the day with a 2-3 record.

INDIVIDUALLY AT ELITE INVITATIONAL
Individually, the Cherry and White went a combined 55-74 in West Philadelphia, with a few individual performances standing out.

Junior foilist Renee Oymann led the foil squad, finishing the day with a 8-3 showing. Oymann went 3-0 against No. 5 Northwestern and No. 14 Stanford. Her three wins in the latter matchup were instrumental in the Owls defeating the Cardinal, 14-13.

The epeeists also played an important role in the top-15 win, with the combination of Victoria Doroshkevich, Auprell Edwards, and Anne-Mai Melles finishing 7-2 in their bouts against Stanford.

Sophomore Lauren Johnson finished with a 10-5 record in sabre, with seven of those wins coming against ranked opponents.

UP NEXT
The Owls will travel to Kansas City, MO, to compete in the USA Fencing North American Cup, beginning on Friday, January 3.
