Gymnastics Scores Nine 9.8s in Saturday Quad at NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Temple gymnastics team scored nine 9.8s in Saturday's quad meet at NC State as they scored a 194.425. The Owls finished in fourth place behind No. 21 NC State (197.000), Iowa State (196.700), and Northern Illinois (195.200).
HOW IT HAPPENED
ROTATION 1 (FLOOR – 49.025)
ROTATION 2 (VAULT – 48.875)
ROTATION 3 (BARS – 47.750)
ROTATION 4 (BEAM – 48.775)
UP NEXT – The Owls return home next week on Thursday, March 7 at 1 p.m. with their first of two quad meets. The Cherry and White close out the home schedule on March 10 at 2:30 p.m. with its Senior Day festivities. Both meets will be available on ESPN+

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Temple was in third place after the first two rotations, scoring a 49.025 on floor in rotation one and a 48.875 in rotation two, but weren't able to hold their position during rotation three.
- Senior Mackenzie Aresta and Hannah Weklar highlighted the team individually as they broke career-best on the vault.
ROTATION 1 (FLOOR – 49.025)
- The Owls came out firing on all cylinders in the first rotation as they scored a 49.025. It's the third straight 49 for the floor team and fifth overall this season.
- Seniors Brooke Donabedian and Renee Schugman led the Owls with 9.850s.
- Junior Summer Ruskey was just .025 short of last week's mark, scoring a 9.825. It's the Taneytown, Md. natives third straight and fifth overall 9.8 or better.
ROTATION 2 (VAULT – 48.875)
- Mackenzie Aresta and Hannah Weklar tallied career-high scores in the second rotation for Temple.
- Earlier this season, Aresta tied her career-high with a pair of 9.825s, but on Saturday the senior improved that mark with a 9.850, while Weklar broke an early season mark with a 9.825.
- Renee Schugman added her seventh score this season of 9.7 or better with a 9.775.
ROTATION 3 (BARS – 47.750)
- Junior Sarah Stallings scored a 9.825, her fourth straight 9.8 score, and seventh overall.
- After a week below her season average, sophomore Emily Johnson returned to form, earning a 9.725. Earlier in the season Johnson scored five scores with at least a 9.7.
ROTATION 4 (BEAM – 48.775)
- Junior Madison Dorunda and the seniors Schugman and Donabedian highlighted the final rotation with scores in the 9.8s
- Donabedian led the trio with a 9.825, her fifth overall score in the 9.8 range.
- With a 9.8 , the Waterford, Conn. native Dorunda earned her second straight 9.8 and fifth overall such score with a 9.8 or higher.
- Schugman scored her sixth overall 9.8 or better this season with a 9.8.
- Stallings earned a 9.725, marking the third this year the junior would score 9.7 or above on beam..
