PHILADELPHIA – The Temple University field hockey team is excited to announce the addition of two new members of the staff as Maite Sturm joins as an assistant coach and Janelle Ward comes in as a graduate assistant.

Sturm arrives at Temple after a stint as an assistant coach for her club team in Germany and was a decorated student-athlete at VCU. She was an All-American as a senior and three-time All-Atlantic 10 First Team honoree. She started all 82 games in which she appeared during her career, totaling 26 goals and 36 assists for 88 points and helped the Rams to the spring 2021 NCAA tournament.

Ward joins the Owls from cross-city rival Saint Joseph's. She was the starting goalkeeper for the Hawks last season, going 16-5 with a 1.14 goals against average and helped the team to an A10 championship. Prior to coming to SJU, she spent two seasons at Southern Connecticut State, making 228 saves in 2022.

Temple returns to action on Friday when it travels to No. 3 Virginia. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
