Temple Set to Compete in First Meet of the Year

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's track and field kicks off the new year with their first race at the Ott Center on Friday, January 11th. The Owls will face off against Howard, La Salle, Lehigh, Monmouth, Penn, Rider, Rutgers, and St. Joseph's.

Previewing the Owls
>Temple opened the season on December 8th at the Penn Opener, where Nya Browne, Reagan Schwartz, and Reece Sullivan set personal bests. Amira Green highlighted the meet, securing the Owls' only first-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.72 meters.
> The Owls will field 19 athletes across 13 events this weekend. Seven will compete in the jumps, two in the short hurdles, and 11 in the sprints. The team will not be participating in distance or throwing events.
>Five freshmen are set to race in the open 400 meters.
>This meet marks the debut for senior Olabisi Adams, freshman Zayniah Ali, graduate student Siani Brown-Carr, and freshman Sadie Dixon. Ali, Brown-Carr, and Dixon were slated to compete in the season opener but were unable to complete their events.
>Temple will close out the competition with two 4x400 meter relay teams.

The Owls will remain in Philadelphia for the Quaker Invitational at the Ott Center, a two-day meet scheduled for Friday, January 17th, and Saturday, January 18th.
