Opening Tip
  • Coming off an impressive showing that resulted in an 88-81 win over No. 18 Memphis on Thursday, the Temple men's basketball team has a quick turnaround for its next game on Sunday against Tulane.
  • The Owls and Green Wave enter with a combined 7-2 record in the American Athletic Conference, with Temple standing at 3-1 and Tulane holding a 4-1 mark in league play.
  • Senior Shane Dezonie registered his second straight double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds to help lead Temple to its biggest win of the season over the Tigers.
  • Dezonie has scored in double figures in six straight games dating back to Dec. 21, and helped the Owls win the battle on the boards over the Tigers by an impressive 49-25 margin.
  • Graduate student Jamal Mashburn Jr. tallied his 12th game this season with 20 or more points, finishing with a team-high 21 which included an 11-of-12 performance from the free-throw line.
  • In addition to Dezonie and Mashburn Jr., sophomore Quante Berry was a catalyst at both ends of the floor with 19 points offensively and a fine performance against the AAC's leading scorer PJ Haggerty.
  • Haggerty was held to just two points in the first half as the Owls built a six-point halftime lead.
  • Senior Steve Settle III chipped in with 11 points and sophomore Zion Stanford added 10 for Temple.
