Gymnastics Heads to Nebraska for Masters Classic Meet

LINCOLN, NE - Gymnastics are ready to hit on the road to Lincoln, NE for the Masters Classic Meet on Saturday, Mar. 15 at 7:30 PM EST, where they'll compete against Texas Woman's University, Iowa State University, and No. 20 Nebraska.
VAULT
Temple performed impressively on the vault during the Rutgers meet, with Amelia Budd leading the charge. The sophomore matched her career-high with a 9.850, the top score of the evening. Nikki Rengifo, Renee Schugman, and Kyrstin Johnson all contributed solid routines, each scoring 9.750. Summer Ruskey and Hannah Weklar completed the rotation, both earning 9.675.
BARS Â
Temple had a strong start on bars in the opening rotation, finishing with a team score 47.850. Hannah Weklar again led the Owls with a solid 9.850, marking her fourth consecutive week scoring 9.800 or higher on bars. Kyrstin Johnson set a career-high with a 9.700 in her third competition on the apparatus. Sarah Stallings also impressed, recording her ninth straight score of 9.700 or higher with a 9.775.
BEAM Â
Temple posted an impressive team score of 48.650 on the beam during their second rotation. Robyn Dunne led the Owls with a solid 9.825, marking her fifth score of 9.800 or higher this season. Renee Schugman opened her night with a strong 9.800, just shy of her season high. Megan White contributed to the team's performance with a strong 9.775, adding another solid routine for Temple.
FLOOR Â
Temple dazzled on the floor during their third rotation, posting a season-high team score of 49.200. Brooke Donabedian led the charge with a season-high 9.925, followed by Renee Schugman, who reached a season-high of 9.875. Kyrstin Johnson closed the rotation with a solid 9.850, marking her second-best performance this season. Donabedian, Schugman, and Johnson posted the top three scores of the meet on the floor, contributing to the Owls' impressive finish.
SCOUTING TEXAS WOMAN'S
TWU delivered a solid performance in their first road meet at Clemson, which was highlighted by strong closing rotations on the floor and vault. The Pioneers posted a season-high 49.175 on the floor, featuring standout performances from Trinity Caffey (9.850), Sophie Hernandez (9.875), and Sophia Isbell (9.825). Freshman Bailey Upton continued to impress, tying for third on the beam (9.775) and adding a 9.825 on the floor. The Pioneers closed with a 48.975 on vault, where Kaitlyn Hoiland secured a season-high 9.850 to tie for third. With a final score of 193.975, TWU secured a win over New Hampshire and gained valuable momentum heading into their upcoming Senior Day meet.
SCOUTING IOWA STATE
Despite falling to Iowa in the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk meet, Iowa State showcased several standout performances, finishing with a 195.650. Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa led the Cyclones on vault with a 9.850, while Haylee Hardin followed closely with a 9.800. Hardin, Rachel Wilke, Frederique Sgarbossa, and Noelle Adams delivered intense routines, each earning a 9.875. Aubree Guinee made a notable return from injury, scoring a 9.800 on the floor, and Ella Schell set a new season high with a 9.850. Head Coach Ashley Miles-Greig praised the team's resilience and focus, emphasizing their ability to push through challenges and compete with grit.
SCOUTING NO. 20 NEBRASKA
Nebraska secured a decisive victory over New Hampshire, improving to 5-11 on the season behind a stellar all-around performance from Whitney Jencks (39.350). The Huskers shined on bars, where Jencks, Emma Spence, and Emma Simpton shared the title with 9.900s, while Isabel Sikon led the team on beam with a 9.850. Nebraska matched its season-high on the floor with a 49.375, fueled by a standout 9.925 from Sophia McClelland and a career-best 9.900 from Jencks. With multiple career and season highs across events, the Huskers delivered a well-rounded performance that showcased their depth and momentum heading into the next stretch of competition.
