Temple Shines on Floor and Vault in Dual Meet with Maryland

PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The Temple Owls fell to the Maryland Terrapins (196.325) in McGonigle Hall with a team score of 194.950. The midweek matchup saw two new team highs in vault and floor, and five Owls scored a new season-high.

ROTATION 1 (VAULT: 48.900)

  • Temple achieved their highest score of the season, beating out their previous high of 9.875 at Towson (1/31).
  • The Owls kicked off the meet with a solid 9.725 from Sophomore Amelia Budd.
  • Nikki Renfigo and Hannah Weklar followed suit with 9.775 each.
  • Renee Schugmann and Johnson closed out the rotation with the highest scores for the Owls, with 9.800 and 9.825, respectively.
  • Schugmann's 9.800 is a season-high for the 5th year.
 
ROTATION 2 (BARS: 48.100)
  • Reese DeHaan scored a 9.750 first for the Owls.
  • Weklar broke her career-high for the second meet in a row with a 9.875.
  • Megan White (9.725) and Sarah Stallings (9.825) provided strong performances for the Cherry and the White.
 
ROTATION 3 (BEAM: 48.775)
  • Three Owls scored 9.800 or higher, including a 9.850 from Madison Dorunda and 9.800 from Summer Ruskey and Brooke Donabedian.
  • Dorunda fell just 0.025 short of tying her season-high of 9.875 against Bowling Green (2/21).
  • Schugmann added another solid performance with 9.775, her third time reaching the mark this season.
 
ROTATION 4 (FLOOR: 49.175)
  • The Cherry and White were able to eclipse their previous team high score of 48.925, set at the Lone Star Challenge (1/11). They now have scores above 49.000 in three of four apparatuses.
  • Weklar kicked off the rotation with a 9.700, her third time reaching at least that score in her sophomore season.
  • Renfigo tied her freshman season record with her second 9.775 in a row.
  • Johnson popped off with a 9.900, her season-high, beating her previous high of 9.850 set at the Lone Star Challenge (1/11).
  • The fifth-years, Schugmann (9.850) and Donabedian (9.875), showed out in their final rotation at McGonigle Hall with two season-highs.
