Scouting Temple
The Owls (3-1) bounced back from a 5-2 loss at now-No. 24 Monmouth with a 3-1 victory at Bucknell behind goals from Lucia Magro, Mathea Lassale and Kathryn Gauvin. Magro broke the scoreless tie with a penalty-stroke goal in the third quarter.
Magro was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Tuesday after registering her third goal in four collegiate games. She leads Temple in both goals (3) and points (7), ranking fourth and eighth, respectively, in the BIG EAST. She also landed on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her contributions to Temple's 2-0 start.
Also honored by the conference Tuesday was sophomore goalkeeper Alex Lepore. The Devon native holds a 3-0 record this season. She allowed just three goals in 90 minutes on the week, posting a pair of saves.
Temple's freshmen have impressed early, with Magro (3 goals, 7 pts.), Gauvin (2 goals, 4 pts.), Lise Korver (2 goals, 4 pts.) and Mara Lenting (2 goals, 4 pts.) accounting for 64.3 percent of the Owls' 14 goals and 52.7 percent of their 36 points this season. The group has helped offset the graduation of NFHCA All-America selection Alize Maes, NFHCA All-Region honoree Tess Muller and All-BIG EAST standout Devin Kinzel.
The Owls have thrived in the final quarter, scoring 64 percent (9 of 14) of their goals in the last 15 minutes. They have outscored opponents 9-5 in the fourth quarter.
Temple has also excelled at Howarth Field, earning 13 consecutive regular-season home wins dating back to 2023. Only Northwestern (22) and UMass (14) have longer active streaks, giving the Owls the third-longest nationally.
