Temple Sweeps BIG EAST Weekly Honors

9.23.25 | Field Hockey

NEW YORK – After an undefeated week with wins over Drexel and Georgetown, the BIG EAST Conference announced Tuesday afternoon that Temple University field hockey senior midfielder/forward Peyton Rieger, sophomore goalkeeper Alex Lepore and freshman midfielder/forward Lucia Magro have all earned weekly honors.

Rieger was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, Lepore was selected as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, and Magro was tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the second time this season.

Rieger continued her impressive stretch, scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over Drexel and adding the equalizer in a 2-1 victory at Georgetown in the BIG EAST opener. She has registered five goals across the past four games, becoming the first Owl to score in four consecutive games since Alyssa Delp — an NFHCA All-America Third Team honoree — found the cage in five straight to close the 2015 season.

Lepore posted her second clean sheet of 2025 against Drexel and tallied a season-high eight saves in the win over Georgetown. With the result, she improved to 7-0 and currently ranks second in the BIG EAST in save percentage (20th nationally) and third in goals-against average (20th nationally). She is one of just three goalkeepers nationally with at least seven wins without a loss, joining Northwestern's Juliana Boon and UMass' Myrte van Herwijnen. The Defensive Player of the Week honor is the first of her career.

Magro scored the game-winner at Georgetown in the 32nd minute. The Freshman of the Week nod is her second this year and the third time she has been recognized by the conference. The Argentina native is tied for second on the team in goals and ranks second in assists, tying with Rieger atop of the BIG EAST rankings in game-winning goals (3).

It marks the first time since 2014 that Temple has swept the BIG EAST weekly awards. On Oct. 27, 2014, Amber Youtz (Offensive) and Taylor Shronk (Defensive) were recognized.

The Owls return to Howarth Field this weekend, first hosting Villanova on Friday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m., before closing the weekend against Richmond on Sunday, Sept. 28, at noon.
